Blue Ridge and Elijay Georgia

My husband and I drove up to Blue Ridge and Elijay Georgia.  It's located about 2 hours from our home. Its a beautiful drive through the mountains and located near trout springs, lakes, and mountain cabins. Many of the shops are geared for tourist, and cabin furnishings, fishing gear, and bear t shirts and stuffed animals are plentiful.  Mountain cabin rentals are available as well as guided fishing trips. But that's not what we went for.  I love the antique shops and they are everywhere, especially in Elijay.  These small towns are located in the heart of apple country and apple barns are full of apples, apple butter, fried apple pies, apple salsa, and of course my favorite fried apple pies.

It wouldn't have been a shopping trip if I hadn't found a garden shop, and I found a great one. Penelope's Garden is located in downtown BlueRidge.  This display is for those who love to make Fairy Gardens. You can't see it in this picture but there is a waterfall running down the middle of the display.

They do not have a website but you can reach at BradleyDavid1@mac.com  Tell them you saw it on my blog.

R.I.P.

I have made peace with my potted plants and they have passed on to the big garden in the sky. Record temperatures, over 100 for a week in a row, have taken their tole on the zinnias, verbenas, and impatiens.  I have kept my herb garden watered, and it can take the heat better, so those plants are fine.  I think I will wait until cooler weather and try again.
